Declan & Harley 

That same year, I joined SARDA IN as a ‘dog’s body’, where I had the privilege of learning from experienced trainers like Dr Neil Powell, Raph O’Connor and the rest of the team. Their guidance inspired me to pursue the path of becoming a SAR dog handler.

Harley is now a highly skilled three-year-old trailing dog with incredible drive, energy and a deep love for the work she does. Her favourite things in the world are her ball — and me. When she’s not training or out on a search, she enjoys long adventures, playtime with her ball and relaxing with our family.

The bond between handler and dog is the foundation of everything we do. Building that connection with Harley has not only made us a strong team, but it has also inspired me to grow as a person. This journey has been both humbling and rewarding, and I’m proud to share it with such an extraordinary partner.
